Tomatillos grow in the summer garden just like their relatives: tomatoes, eggplants and peppers. Each plant produces about a pound of fruit. The plant tends to sprawl so they grow best when trellised in a tomato cage. They're great for salsas verdes and chilis. Prior to use, tomatillos should be stored in a brown paper bag for 2-3 weeks in the vegetable bin of the refrigerator.
